ClearPath Diagnostics provides highly specialized gynecologic pathology services to referring clinicians. Our gynecologic section offers in depth expertise in the interpretation of Pap smears and gynecologic tissue specimens. We have been at the forefront in providing new advances in diagnostic technology for the benefit of your patients.
ClearPath Diagnostics is an independent laboratory that focuses on outreach anatomical pathology services. We offer highly accurate diagnostics with rapid turn around of cases and personalized service. ClearPath prides itself on establishing excellent communication with all health care providers.
Tissue pathology
Our pathologists have extensive experience in the interpretation of gynecologic specimens. They are always on site and available to handle calls and questions.
Photographs to supplement the diagnostic report are available on selected reports or if requested. Our pathologists also actively participate in teaching and investigative studies in gynecologic fields.
Cytopathology
Our modern and innovative laboratory is the largest for cytology screening services in the region. We have a well-trained and experienced team of cytotechnologists that complement our pathologists, providing maximum skill in Pap smear evaluation.
We were the first in upstate New York to introduce ThinPrep® monolayer technology to enhance the sensitivity and reliability of Pap smear screening. We were also the first in the region to implement image assisted, computerized pre-screening of all Pap smears which helps to ensure that no abnormal cells are overlooked.
HPV (human papilloma virus) evaluation
ClearPath introduced reflexive HPV testing from the ThinPrep vial in New York State. Our medical technologists perform Digene Hybrid Capture® 2 (hc2) using the most advanced technology to determine the presence of HPV. We can analyze for both high and low risk HPV.
We now also offer DNAwithPap® Test that includes ThinPrep Pap plus Digene® High Risk HPV, an FDA-approved test to screen women age 30 and older and identify those patients who are at greatest risk for cervical cancer.
Chlamydia (CT) and Gonorrhea (GC) testing from ThinPrep vial
Paired testing for these 2 significant sexually transmitted diseases is offered from the ThinPrep vial. We use the highly sensitive Gen-Probe® APTIMA Combo 2® Assay. Using one sample for Pap smear, CT/GC analysis and HPV testing (if necessary) provides maximum screening capability with unsurpassed ease of collection and patient comfort.
Bacterial vaginosis/vaginitis
With an additional swab, rapid testing for Gardnerella vaginalis, Candida sp., and Trichomonas vaginalis using BD AffirmTM is available.
Support services
Our administrative staff is always on hand to attend to special needs of each office. Prompt couriers and in house billing complement our services. We par with all major insurers and our billing staff can assist your office with questions regarding patients' bills.
ClearPath utilizes a state or the art computer system with a confidential and integrated database. This closed system guarantees security, confidentiality and correlation with previous diagnoses. ClearPath also provides confidential and HIPAA compliant web-based access to your diagnoses.
